Outreach Ministries

As Catholics, God calls us to help the poor and vulnerable.

How do you care for the poor and for God’s creation?

Many of our brothers and sisters are struggling to make ends meet.

How you can you help and make a difference?

Please prayerfully consider joining St. Gabriel’s Outreach Committee and combine your efforts with others to help those in need.
By providing a little help in any of the following ways, you can make a huge difference:


Fair Trade Coffee/Chocolate

  • When: Monthly sales
  • Purpose: Raise awareness and help pay farmers a fair, living wage for their products in impoverished countries.
  •  Why: Small farmers are paid a fair, living wage for products
  • What: Coffee is gourmet, organic and shade-grown at high altitudes.
  • Benefits: Our small proceeds have helped purchase a heifer thru Heifer International, provided funds to help an impoverished community in Peru, helped a coorperative in Guatamala purchase a coffee roaster, and provided funds for projects that our own YDisciples participated in.

Food Pantry

  • When: The first weekend of every month
  • What: Non-perishable food items
  • Benefits: Delivered to Northern Churches Care for prescreened people in need

Fostering Hope Foundation

(Marilyn Szorc: 719-634-8588,, visit

  • Mission: “To support and affirm foster parents in their task of caring for neglected and abused children, especially those who have little likelihood of adoption or return to their family of origin.”
  • Volunteers: St Gabriel has two teams, each assigned to one foster family

Parish Tithe

(Janet Hutchinson: 719-278-3443)

  • Purpose: To be a tithing parish
  • How: A percentage of our offertory is donated weekly for different purposes
  • Benefit: Each recipient is researched or mandated by the USCCB

Recycling Program

  • Purpose: In keeping with God’s call for us to be good stewards of the earth.
  • How: Visit the recycling center in the Narthex to deposit household batteries, cell phones, ink cartridges, and eye glasses.

Sister Parish

  • Purpose: We support our sister parish Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cheyenne Wells with various needs.
  • Why: Sacred Heart is located in a very poor area of the state and is in need of clothing and food donations.

Special Programs & Donation Drives

  • Purpose: To sponsor special programs and donation drives.
  • Projects include:
    • Baby items collected at the church picnic
    • Back-to-School Supply Drive
    • Clothing Collections
    • Military Appreciation
    • Thanksgiving Meals
    • Christmas Giving Tree
    • Operation Rice Bowl
    • Send Hunger Packing
    • Faithful Citizenship
    • Justice for Immigrants
