Ensure that sound (spoken and sung) and, as appropriate, video are transmitted throughout the church so all parishioners can see, hear, and understand all parts of the service. Some services are also livestreamed and recorded to serve homebound parishioners.

Audio-Visual Technicians (A/V techs) need to arrive prior to the start of Mass to ensure the soundboard and cameras are correctly functioning, that all microphones are on and tested and that the portable microphones have new or charged batteries. During the service, A/V Techs adjust the volume of sound from various sources (priests, deacons, choir, readers, and announcers) and ensure the sound projects properly throughout the church. Some Masses, like Palm Sunday, are complex and may require more than one Tech. Techs are also needed to support additional services such as weddings, funerals, Stations of the Cross, etc.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be high school age or older, comfortable operating electronic equipment, and have an ability to anticipate the parts of the Mass in order to turn microphones on/off and switch camera views at appropriate times throughout the service.
If you are interested in training to serve as an A/V Tech, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Linda Popolano, [email protected], 719-528-8407.
